How to Manage Your Facebook Friends

Sounds kind of clinical, I know. But as your base of friends grows and grows, you’ll be more effective and more personable if you can separate your friends into various groups.

I’ll tell you how in just a bit. But first, the why……

Facebook has so many uses and opportunities for us. You can keep up on family; their pictures, activities, struggles, etc. You can keep up on some of your ‘real’ local friends and groups as well. You might want to see just the people from your church or square dance club. You might want to keep up on just people you work with or your buddies from the local watering hole.

In the business arena, you might have hundreds or even THOUSANDS of ‘friends’. In some cases you will want to build relationships with some of those and keep closer tabs on them and what they’re doing. The power of social media marketing is in these online relationships that you build as your friend base grows. Helps to know personalities as well and you can get help with that from this free eBook at BookForFree99.com (personalities section starts about page 46)

OK… So here’s how to do this.

You’ll notice on your HOME page a series of menu items on the far left of the page. At the bottom of that list you’lll see MORE. Clicking that will reveal CREATE NEW LIST. Click there and you’ll open a new window where you can name your new list (maybe FAMILY) and choose the people to be on that list. There’s a NAME FINDER just above the people listed to help you find people more quickly. Add the people you want on the list by clicking their picture or name. At the bottom click CREATE LIST when you’re done.

Click MORE again on the menu items on the left and you can ‘GRAB’ the individual lists to place them in any order you choose. Now you can click on any of those lists and your page will only show those people.

Here’s some ideas for groups: Church, Family, Kids, Mom & Dad, Work Friends, Upline, Downline, Networking, Social Media Experts, DENNIS VOLZ (I’m sure you sometimes just want to see my stuff….), Key People ((business friends that you want to know better) Funny People, or Subjects (like Film, Local events, etc for people who post mostly on subjects you’re interested in.)

The possibilities are as endless as your imagination.

OH….. One more thing. You can edit the lists whenever you want to in order to add or remove people. Just click MORE again (that’s key to changes for some reason). Click the list you want to edit then click the little pencil next to the list.

Have fun….
