Leads — Pre-Interested vs. Pre-Qualified

There’s two kinds of prospects in the word. Those who are Pre-qualified and those who are Pre-interested.
Well OF COURSE He Wants To Make More Money – Who Doesn’t?
First let’s talk about the Pre-Qualified lead. These are leads that are qualified to talk with you based on their needs. For example, you’re walking through mall and you see your old friend Freddie. Now Freddie is just one of the nicest guys on the planet. He’s friendly, helps out at the kid’s schools, coaches his son’s soccer team and is very well connected around town. You immediately see Freddie as a prospect because of his QUALITIES so you start the FORM process. You talk to him about his Family, Occupation, Recreation and then finally Money. When you get to the “million dollar question” which is something like, “Well, Freddie do you keep your options open as far as making more money?, Freddie is going to say, “Well, sure!” Who isn’t interested in making more money.
Here’s The Problem With That Approach
While Freddie is interested in making more money, he isn’t really interested in taking on any kind of business opportunity. And you’ve just spent 30+ minutes of your valuable time to learn that. Top earners in Network Marketing don’t sell the opportunity – The Concept of Network Marketing because that approach just doesn’t work! With Freddie (or your friends and family, or your co-workers), you’re trying to sell the concept of owning your own business to someone who doesn’t really want to own a business. (only about 1 out of 10 people do)
Here’s a Better Approach
Instead of finding people like Freddie, you need to find people like Max. Max is an entrepreneur at heart. He may be involved with a business opportunity now or he has in the past. He’s always looking for something to conquer. He’s always got his eye open to some kind of entrepreneurial venture that can make some money. He IS an entrepreneur and he’s always interested. So where and how do you find people like Max.
To go back to our example at the mall, what if all the entrepreneurs simply wore a red baseball hat with a giant black ‘E’ on the front? Wouldn’t that make things a lot easier. Of course it would. With the power of the internet you can stroll through the “internet mall” and ask people who are interested to raise their hand or put on their entrepreneur hat. It’s just that simple.
Sifting and Sorting are the Network Marketers Most Important Skill
As an Online or Network Marketer, your goal is to only attract pre-interested leads. You see pre-interested leads don’t have to be sold on the power of owning your own business and hence owning your life. They are already sold on that idea. All they want is a leader and an opportunity to jump on board with. YOU are that leader.
How To Become The Hunted Rather Than The Hunter
This is really a very simple three step process. It’s really the same process you’d use if your were going fishing. If you’re looking to eat fish for dinner, you go to the lake, use the right, and you’re patient.
- STEP ONE: Hang out in the right online places. And I mean just hang out for awhile. Find where the entrepreneurs hang out. They’ll be on Facebook and Linkedin in the MLM and Network Marketing Groups. They’ll be looking online for opportunities, so you become visible in that arena with either a blog or a website that is Search-Engine Friendly.
- STEP TWO: Provide value before anything. Most new Network Marketers jump in and SPAM their new ‘friends’ with obnoxious ads, posts and shouts of, “BEST BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, DON’T MISS THIS, JOIN ME TODAY OR MISS OUT!” yada, yada, yada. Instead of that approach, become a source of information and inspiration. Be willing to step into their shoes and learn their problems and challenges and help them solve them. You will build goodwill, friendships and eventually, a sizable downline because of it.
- STEP THREE: Provide a link to an Intriguing Capture Page. Let them find you. Let them find your business. When you provide enough valuable content, insights, inspiration and information, they will start to wonder, “Who IS this person? What are they doing? How are they doing it?” Simply make the links available and they will find it. YES… it takes a little longer, but building any successful business takes time. If you’re looking to get rich in a few weeks, you’d probably have better odds in Las Vegas.
I’ve Had All Kinds Of Leads — Pre-Interested is Best
Very often you won’t even have to call a good pre-interested leads. They will call you! Hard to believe, I know, but it will happen more often than you think if you provide a proper foundation. Even if you end up calling them, they will treat you almost like an old friend. Why? Because you’ve taken the time to bring value to their life. You’ve spent the effort to edify their dreams. You are part of the family.
If You Build It, They Will Come
Take the time to get to know your prospects. Build a bridge into their life and bring value, goods and services to them. Then build a bridge to your business that they can walk when they are ready. Don’t push them, don’t force them, let it happen naturally.
And it will.
